THE QUINCEY

E’ l’estate del 2012 quando, a Milano, Emmanuele e Gaetano iniziano a suonare
insieme e inizia subito a piacergli: ” Penso che fare musica sia la massima espressione
artistica che ci possa essere. Alla fine se ci pensi un album non è altro che un’opera
d’arte.”(Manu).Tano è un bassista siciliano e Manu suona la chitarra e canta da
quando aveva 16 anni, a Reggio Emila; si sono conosciuti a scuola di fotografia. Il loro
progetto musicale prende subito forma e le idee non mancano. Poco dopo Silvia (voce
e chitarra) -ex Ah,Wildness!- e Pane (chitarra e sitar) si uniscono ai due. Intensamente
inspirati dal movimento 60′ psichedelico, trovano in Gummo (organo e synth) e Pontus –
batterista svedese prima nei Thieves Like Us n.b.- gli ultimi due tasselli dei The Quincey.
Con il convinto supporto di Dumbo Gets Mad come producer e compagno di viaggi
lisergici, registrano l’EP “Look Up to the Sky ” e suonano tutti insieme al Club Calamita a
Reggio Emilia e per la mostra Mo(nu)ment nel festival di Fotografia Europea, in una
sorta di perfomances collettive. Ad oggi, tra i concerti in programma al Milano White
Show, al Magnolia (come gruppo spalla dei Toy)a fine Luglio e a Pesaro in Agosto, i
The Quincey stanno incidendo il loro primo album.

It was in Milan end of summer 2012, Emmanuele and Gaetano started to play music
together and right away they fell in love with that.”Make music is the greatest art
expression could ever be. I think that an album is nothing but an art
form” (Manu). Tano is a Sicilian bass player and Manu began to play guitar and sing
in Reggio Emilia, since he was 16; they met in Milan at the school of photography.Their
music project rose right away and a lot of ideas came out. In a while Silvia (vocal and
guitar) -ex Ah,Wildness!- and in a couple of months also Pane (guitar and sitar) joined
the group.
Mostly inspired by 60’s psychaedelic movement, they found in Gummo (synth and
organ and Manu’s brother) and Pontus – the swedish-kickass-drummer from Thieves Like
Us n.b.- the last two members of The Quincey.
With the enthusiastic support of Dumbo Gets Mad as producer and friend, they have
record the EP “Look Up to the Sky ” and then they’ve play together at Calamita Club in
Reggio Emilia and at exhibition Mo(nu)ment at Fotografia Europea. Now they’re going
to perform at Milano White Show, at Magnolia in July (as opening band of The Toy)
then in Pesaro in August.In the meanwhile they’re writing their first album.
